ThermBooster™ increases energy efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions

The SPH ThermBooster™ industrial heat pump is a unique high-temperature heat pump solution and the answer to process manufacturing’s rising energy costs. It can be used in a wide range of industries, applications and industrial processes.

Environmentally friendly

Reduction of primary energy demand and energy costs

Fossil fuels generate industrial process heat, while residual heat is either lost or has to be cooled away. This is neither efficient nor environmentally friendly. The ThermBooster™ makes effective use of the waste heat and therefore saves on energy costs.


Cost-effectiveness through energy-efficient processes

Industrial heat pumps have historically been limited to outlet temperatures below 100 °C, while most processes require temperatures between 100 °C and 200 °C. SPH Sustainable Process Heat GmbH is now changing this with its series of high-temperature heat pumps for generating industrial process heat. The heat pumps are currently able to generate temperatures of 165 °C and in the future 200 °C and above. This is made possible by a high-temperature piston compressor specially developed for this purpose in conjunction with innovative process technology.

Zero emissions

100 per cent CO2-free process heat when green electricity is utilised

Global demand for industrial process heat between 100 °C and 200 °C is 6,500 TWh per year and is expected to increase by 20% by 2030. Currently, more than 80% of this heat is generated by burning fossil fuels, emitting millions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. The ThermBooster™ enables CO2 emissions to be reduced considerably. When green electricity is utilised, CO2 emissions even drop to zero!

Decoupling from fossil fuels

Switching from fossil fuels to waste heat utilisation and heat recovery increases energy and resource efficiency and drastically reduces industry’s carbon footprint. Given its relatively high temperature level of around 20 °C to approx. 100 °C, industrial waste heat represents a particularly valuable heat source for heat pumps, in energy terms. This waste heat can be converted efficiently into useful process heat by the ThermBooster™.

Uncomplicated integration enables the ThermBooster™ to be easily incorporated into your production environment, and its flexible mode of operation means it automatically adapts to your heating needs.


Proven technology dating back more than 30 years

Piston compressor technology is a robust, proven technology that has been in use for more than 100 years, for example in ships. This technology has also been used in heat pumps for more than 30 years. The innovative ThermBooster™ is based on the proven piston compression principle in combination with innovative, environmentally compatible refrigerants.
