BMWE recognises solutions to improve energy efficiency

SPH's high-temperature heat pump for a future-ready industry

SPH Sustainable Process Heat GmbH has been included in the TOP TENs list for Energy Efficiency 2025. The national implementation of the TOP TENs initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), together with the German Environment Agency (UBA) and the Initiative for Energy Efficiency Networks (IEEKN). The list honours pioneering solutions from industry, the building sector and the public sector that are scalable, offer economic benefits and achieve a measurable climate impact.

The initiative also has an international dimension: The “TOP TENs” Working Group of the Energy Efficiency Hub (EEHub), under the umbrella of the International Energy Agency (IEA), promotes knowledge sharing on impactful efficiency technologies. Selected entries are listed in the categories Best Available Technology (BAT) and Best Practice (BP) and may be proposed as German candidates for the international TOP TENs list, which is composed of projects from all EEHub member countries.

High-temperature heat pumps as a lever for climate-neutral production

The inclusion in the TOP TENs list demonstrates that SPH, with its ThermBooster™ technology, meets the requirements of this initiative – particularly with regard to energy efficiency, environmental and climate protection, and industrial applicability.

The recognition also underscores that high-temperature heat pumps are becoming a key technology for the decarbonisation of industrial process heat, offering reliable and practical ways of achieving energy savings in real-world applications.

“For us, this award is an important signal: Efficient process heat is a central lever for a climate-neutral industry – and solutions already exist today,” says SPH Managing Director Andreas Mück. “We would like to thank all partners who are driving this development forward with us. There is momentum – and we are proud to be part of the development.”
