ThermBooster™ featured in international HTHP report
IEA report on industrial high-temperature heat pumps
ThermBooster™ deployed in international demonstration projects
The ThermBooster™ developed by SPH Sustainable Process Heat is featured in the 2025 annual report of the international project „Industrial High-Temperature Heat Pumps – Task 1: Technologies“ of the IEA technology collaboration programme Heat Pumping Technologies (HPT). The report was presented in January 2026 at the HTHP Symposium in Copenhagen and provides an overview of available technologies, demonstration projects and suppliers of industrial high-temperature heat pumps.
Technology overview for industrial process heat
As part of Task 1, an international overview of technology providers for high-temperature heat pumps was compiled. It covers systems for industrial process heat applications, including solutions capable of delivering temperatures of up to 200 °C. The aim of the analysis is to provide industry, research institutions and policymakers with a structured overview of available solutions and their current stage of development. SPH is included in the supplier overview with its high-temperature heat pump ThermBooster™.
Demonstration projects using ThermBooster™
In addition to the technology overview, the report documents industrial projects in which high-temperature heat pumps have already been implemented. Several of these demonstration projects are based on the ThermBooster™, including applications in:
- Tobacco industry (Italy)
- Pharmaceutical industry (Austria)
- Paper industry (Germany)
- Metal processing (Spain)
These examples illustrate how industrial heat pumps can already replace fossil-fuel-based process heat by utilising waste heat in combination with electrified solutions, thereby making a significant contribution to the decarbonisation of industry.
Project sheets and technical briefs
Datasheets on individual technologies and demonstration projects provide an overview of systems and applications. Read more about ThermBooster™ applications and download the project sheets here.
